Dr. Ralph Wilson, N.D., M.S. Acupuncture

Lecture Title: Hybrid or "Halfbreed": Science and Human Family Dynamics

Against a backdrop of Hellinger's Family Constellation Work, Johnson's Rayid Birth Order Dynamics and Porges' Polyvagal Theory that describes a branch of the Triune Autonomic Nervous System called a Social Nervous System, Dr. Wilson shares insights about "Healing the World" drawn from his 35 years and various roles in the health care field.

The full title above, including Hybrid or "Halfbreed", reflects the tensions experienced when practitioners and the general public come to grips with different ways of understanding life, health, illness, treatment and reclamation of health. "Where were you, what work were you doing when you realized that there were effective approaches to life that were beyond your worldview at the time?"; "How do we live in both a scientific and a social world?"; "Can we stand upright and confident when our personal view of Life is opposed, marginalized or ignored by individuals and organizations whose decisions affect all the people on earth?"

Some of us began with traditional western science backgrounds. Some of us were nurtured in the understandings of Ayurveda, or Five-Element Acupuncture/Jing-Mai energetics, or one of the other powerful and vibrant systems of understanding Life still available today in the World Community. We are living in a time when a mechanistic/"scientific" description of life is taking deep hold on the powerful nations in the world. The nations of the world have been fortunate in still having practitioners who hold on to effective techniques and worldviews that cannot be explained using the current western scientific model. The term Integrative Medicine invokes visions of drawing upon a variety of approaches to healing. This represents to Dr. Wilson the current best hope to protect humanity from the perils of what he in 1987 called "Flat Earth Medicine".

The delegates to this World Congress hold keys that open treasures of experience and wisdom that can benefit humanity. Dr. Wilson reminds us of our heritage as members of the Human Family. He will point out some promising areas in which hard science and soft science are giving us effective tools that can help us move ahead in both personal healing and enhance international peaceful interactions.
